Melissa Wright has experienced almost every facet of the nail industry. She’s worked as a mobile nail tech, educator and home-based pro, opened and run multiple salons and managed two training academies – arming her with the knowledge to help fellow nail technicians succeed in the sector. It was after noticing clients experiencing reactions to certain nail products that she decided to make a new mark – and turned her hand to nail product development.

“I knew there must be other techs experiencing the same problems, so I took action,” Melissa shares.

Rather trying to find products that ticked every box for her salons and students, she and her team began working on what would eventually become the Allure Beauty Supplies (ABS) professional nail system, spending around two years testing, developing and refining products before bringing the range to market.

“More questions than ever are being asked by nail technicians – and their clients – about what’s in nail products, how they’re manufactured, whether they’re compliant, and why they’re experiencing retention or sensitivity issues,” Melissa reveals. “Brands have a responsibility to be part of that education.”

“ABS wasn’t created because I thought the industry needed another nail brand. It was created because there were problems within our own salons that I couldn’t find satisfactory solutions for.”

ABS offers comprehensive portfolio of products to suit all nail needs, including gel polish in a variety of shade and finishes; hard gel; builder gel; L&P acrylic; nail art; tools and electronics. The ABS Builder Gel range is particularly popular, and Melissa affirms that the core professional gel systems are HEMA-free and TPO-free.

“As we operate salons and an academy, we hear what technicians and clients actually need,” Melissa continues. “I want to help nail professionals build sustainable, profitable businesses, while raising standards around education, product knowledge and nail health.
